Top-ups are destination-specific. A profile bought for one country cannot receive data for a different country.
Affiliate disclosure: We may earn a commission from qualifying purchases. Buy only the data required for the remaining trip.

How to top up step by step
- Open the website Go to the ConnectedYou site.
- Sign in Use the purchase email.
- Open My eSIMs and Topups Find it in the account area.
- Select the eSIM Choose the profile that needs data.
- Review packages Look at available top-up options.
- Choose the amount Pick data that fits the rest of the trip.
- Pay Add it to the basket and complete payment.
- Refresh status Reload the eSIM status page.
- Wait if needed If data does not resume, wait ten minutes and toggle aeroplane mode.
Compare before buying from a product page
Do not buy from a public product page until you have compared the account top-up. A new product may require another installed profile, while a top-up can reuse the current one.
How to check remaining data
My eSIMs separates packages into three states:
- Active: current package and remaining balance
- Upcoming: unused package or top-up waiting to begin
- Expired: consumed or expired package
Use the refresh icon to request the latest balance. ConnectedYou also emails usage alerts after 50% and 80% of the package has been consumed.
Your phone’s mobile-data counter is a useful second estimate, but it may measure a different period. Reset the counter when ConnectedYou activates if you want a cleaner comparison.
When should you buy more data?
The 80% alert is a practical decision point. It leaves enough data to compare prices and reach support.
Estimate the remaining need:
average daily use × travel days left = expected data required
Add a small buffer for maps, transport changes and airport waiting. Do not automatically buy the largest top-up. ConnectedYou does not issue partial refunds simply because data remains unused.
Top-up versus a new eSIM
| Buy a top-up when | Buy a new eSIM when |
|---|---|
| Staying in the original destination | Moving to a different unsupported destination |
| Current profile is installed and working | Current plan covered the wrong route |
| Account shows a suitable refill | No top-up option appears |
| Convenience matters | New-plan price is much lower |
Compare the total price and validity. A new plan can sometimes cost less, but installation adds another profile and QR code. Read the ConnectedYou pricing guide before choosing.
Destination restrictions
ConnectedYou says top-ups must match the destination of the original eSIM. Its example is clear: a Slovenia eSIM can receive Slovenia top-ups, but a later Australia trip requires a new Australia eSIM.
Regional and global profiles should use top-ups explicitly offered under that profile. Do not assume that a country pack can be attached to a global eSIM or that a regional refill changes the original coverage.
How to link a partner-purchased eSIM
Customers who bought through an authorised partner can link the profile to ConnectedYou’s account system.
You need the 20-digit ICCID, which may appear in the reseller email, an SMS or device settings.
Find ICCID on iPhone
Open Settings > General > About, find the ConnectedYou line and copy its ICCID.
Find ICCID on Android
Open Settings > SIM manager, select the eSIM and look for ICCID. Menu names differ by manufacturer.
Link the profile
- Sign in Create or sign in to a ConnectedYou account.
- Open My eSIMs and Topups Find the linking option.
- Enter the ICCID Use exactly 20 digits.
- Select Link eSIM Submit the details.
- Refresh Data may take a few seconds to appear.
Once linked, the account can show remaining balance, package expiry, eSIM status and available top-ups.
Partner-linking errors
Entered length is incorrect
Remove spaces and confirm there are 20 digits.
ICCID contains invalid characters
Use digits only. Do not include a label, dash or letter.
eSIM not found
Check the reseller’s message and the ICCID shown by the device. Confirm that it is a ConnectedYou profile.
Unable to link
The eSIM may already be linked to another email. Try the original purchase account or contact support.
Top-up not working
Follow this order:
- Confirm payment Check that the payment succeeded.
- Check the state See whether the top-up appears as Upcoming or Active.
- Refresh My eSIMs Request the latest status.
- Wait ten minutes Allow time if the old package was empty.
- Toggle aeroplane mode Trigger a new network session.
- Check data selection Confirm ConnectedYou is selected for mobile data.
- Check roaming Confirm data roaming remains enabled.
- Restart the phone Reboot to re-register on the network.
- Contact support Send screenshots if it still fails.
Do not delete the profile
The top-up is attached to that eSIM, and ConnectedYou does not permit device transfers.
For wider faults, use the ConnectedYou not-working guide.
How validity works
ConnectedYou’s fixed packages and top-ups are normally valid for 30 days from activation. The legal terms say the eSIM profile remains valid for six months from purchase, top-up or last package expiry, whichever is later.
Conflicting expiry wording
Product pages contain conflicting wording that says one year after last use. Use the stricter six-month legal period until ConnectedYou confirms the account deadline.
A top-up may extend profile availability under the legal rule, but it does not preserve unused data from an expired 30-day package unless the live product explicitly says so.
Does a coupon apply to top-ups?
The verified 10% code ESIMBROS10 was active when we checked on 22 July 2026, but promotions can exclude top-ups or apply only to selected new packages. Check the basket rather than assuming a code will reduce a refill.
The ConnectedYou coupon page owns current deal updates so support pages do not repeat stale codes.
Ways to make data last longer
- Download maps before leaving Wi-Fi.
- Turn off cloud photo backup.
- Disable automatic app updates.
- Use lower video quality.
- Close hotspot when not needed.
- Set laptop connections as metered.
- Review mobile usage by app.
Streaming and hotspot use can consume a small top-up quickly. A single high-quality video stream may use more than maps and messaging across several days. See the hotspot guide for laptop data controls.
How to choose the refill size
Review the phone’s data use from the first part of the trip. Divide the consumed data by days used, then multiply by days remaining.
Example: if 3GB lasted six days, average use was about 0.5GB per day. Four days left suggests 2GB, plus a modest buffer. A 3GB refill may be sensible; 10GB would probably expire unused unless work or hotspot needs change.
Ask whether upcoming travel days are heavier. Navigation, airport delays, long train journeys and remote-work sessions can increase use.
Top-up cost-control checklist
- Compare the top-up with a fresh country plan.
- Confirm validity begins at the right time.
- Check that the destination has not changed.
- Choose data for the remaining days, not the original trip length.
- Buy before the balance reaches zero when reliable access matters.
- Save the receipt and package status.
- Check for an Upcoming package before buying twice.
Avoid accidental duplicate purchases
Payment confirmation and package status can take a moment to update. Do not press checkout repeatedly. Check the email receipt and My eSIMs before trying again.
If two charges appear, contact ConnectedYou with both order numbers. Do not activate or use the duplicate package while asking whether it qualifies for cancellation. The refund policy guide explains the unused-order rules.
What happens at 30-day expiry?
The package ends when its validity period finishes, even when data remains. Buying a top-up shortly before expiry should be based on the new top-up’s displayed activation and validity rules. Do not assume unused data combines with the new allowance.
For a long stay, compare consecutive local packages with a regional or alternative provider plan. Convenience should not hide a large price difference.

Check ConnectedYou PlansFrequently asked questions
Can I add data to ConnectedYou eSIM?
Yes, where My eSIMs displays an available top-up for the profile.
Do I need another QR code?
Normally no. A top-up adds a package to the existing eSIM profile.
Can I top up for another country?
No. ConnectedYou says a top-up must match the original destination.
How long does a top-up take?
It should work immediately, but allow up to ten minutes if the old data was fully consumed.
How can I check my balance?
Open My eSIMs and refresh the active package. Email alerts also arrive at 50% and 80% use.
Can a partner eSIM be topped up?
Authorised-partner profiles can be linked using the 20-digit ICCID, after which available top-ups appear in the account.
Does leftover data roll over?
Do not assume so. Standard packages expire after their validity period, and unused data does not receive a partial refund.
