The unit price improves only slightly as allowance grows. Compare this with ConnectedYou’s checked US plan, where 20GB cost $33. A traveller staying mostly in the United States would pay a large convenience premium for Global 20GB.
The Global product makes more sense when replacing several country profiles or regional packages. Count both money and operational simplicity.

The 133-country list spans major destinations across:

Broad, not literally worldwide
If one stop is absent, you will need another plan for that country. Read the live list line by line rather than relying on the word “Global”.
Who should buy it?
Multi-region business traveller
One installed profile reduces setup when an itinerary moves from Europe to Asia and North America. The higher price may be acceptable when time and predictable arrival connectivity matter more than unit cost.
Cruise or complex itinerary traveller
It can simplify port visits across supported countries. Mobile data does not work at sea unless the ship is near a covered terrestrial network. Maritime satellite service is separate and can be expensive.
Frequent traveller needing backup data
The 1GB plan can act as a backup across many destinations. Download maps and preserve it for transport, messages and emergencies.
Digital nomad
Global can bridge arrival days, but its cost makes local or regional packages more attractive for longer stays and heavy work. Use it as continuity data rather than the only connection.

ConnectedYou offers Europe, Asia, Middle East, North America and Americas products. For example, Europe covers 37 listed countries. A regional package can give more data for less money when the route remains inside that area.

Global versus separate country plans
Separate plans can save money but require more purchase and installation work. Use this calculation:

If separate plans save only a few dollars, one global profile may be easier. If they save $50 or $100, installing two profiles becomes more attractive.
Modern phones can store several eSIMs, but the precise number depends on the device. ConnectedYou profiles are non-transferable, so install on the phone used for the whole journey.
Three route-cost scenarios
United States only
Global 5GB was $40, while ConnectedYou’s US 5GB plan was $10 when checked. The local plan is the clear choice unless the itinerary changes countries.
United States, France and Japan
Global can remove three purchases and profile changes. Compare its $40 5GB price against the combined local or regional packages, then decide whether convenience is worth the difference.
Europe and Middle East work trip
A Europe regional plan plus a Middle East plan may provide more data for less money. Global becomes useful when short stops and rapid border changes make separate setup inconvenient.
These examples use checked public prices, not a promise that every route follows the same pattern.
Country-list checks that prevent mistakes
- Search the live list for every destination and transit stop where data is needed.
- Distinguish sovereign countries from territories.
- Check islands separately from their mainland country.
- Confirm that cruise days at sea are not covered.
- Ask whether airport transit requires mobile data outside secure Wi-Fi.
- Save the country list shown at purchase.
“133 countries” is a count, not a coverage guarantee at every address. Local radio networks still determine signal.
Data budgeting across borders
The allowance is shared across the covered route. It does not reset when entering a new country. A traveller who uses 4GB in France has only 1GB left from a 5GB Global plan for Japan and the United States.
Set country budgets before departure. Keep high-volume downloads for Wi-Fi and check My eSIMs after each flight or border crossing.
Installation and activation
ConnectedYou sends an order confirmation and a separate QR-code email. Install on stable Wi-Fi before leaving home.
At the first covered destination:
- Enable the profile Turn on the ConnectedYou line.
- Select it for data Choose it for mobile data.
- Turn on data roaming Enable roaming for that line.
- Disable data switching Prevent fallback to the home SIM.
- Wait for registration Allow a partner network to register.
The 30-day validity starts when the eSIM connects in a supported destination. ConnectedYou’s terms require the package to be activated within 180 days of purchase.

Network speed and 5G
ConnectedYou advertises high-speed 5G where available and 4G where 5G is unavailable. It says no separate throttling or speed limit is imposed on the inspected product pages.
That does not guarantee a particular speed. Performance changes with:
- Country and local network partner
- Indoor and rural coverage
- Network congestion
- Phone radio bands
- Roaming priority
- 5G availability on the plan
Ask support which local network serves a critical destination. Download offline maps even when coverage appears strong.
Hotspot and remote work
The Global product permits mobile hotspot without a separately published tethering limit. Every laptop and tablet draws from the same allowance.
The 1GB and 3GB plans are too small for routine video meetings. A 10GB or 20GB package provides more room, but the cost is high. Pause operating-system updates, cloud backups and media downloads.

Calls, texts and app use
Global is data-only. It does not include an ordinary mobile number, cellular calls or SMS. Apps such as WhatsApp, Signal, FaceTime, Uber, maps and email can work over data, subject to local restrictions.
Keep the home SIM active for banking codes only after checking roaming fees. Choose ConnectedYou for mobile data and turn off data switching.
Top-ups and balance tracking
My eSIMs displays active, upcoming and expired packages. ConnectedYou emails alerts at 50% and 80% use.
Available Global top-ups can be bought on the existing profile. A top-up should work immediately, although ConnectedYou recommends allowing up to ten minutes when the old data is fully consumed.

The six-month versus one-year conflict
Conflicting expiry wording
The Global product page says the eSIM remains active for one year from last use and extends another year after top-up. ConnectedYou’s Help Centre and legal terms instead state six months from purchase, top-up or last package expiry, whichever is later.
Use the stricter six-month legal wording for planning. Ask support to confirm the expiry displayed in My eSIMs. The 30-day data-package period is separate and remains the time in which the allowance must be consumed.
Refund considerations
An unused direct purchase may be requested within 15 days, with an administrative charge deducted. Once any data is used, ConnectedYou says a normal refund is not issued. Reseller purchases must be handled by the reseller.
A global plan can be a large purchase, especially 20GB at $155. Confirm device support and the 133-country route before installation. Review the ConnectedYou refund policy before paying.

Our verdict
ConnectedYou Global is a convenience product. It gives broad 133-country coverage, one profile, hotspot and fixed 30-day allowances. The 1GB package is useful as a travel backup, while larger packages can serve complex itineraries. It is not the budget choice for a one-country stay — local and regional plans can be dramatically cheaper. The Global product earns its price only when its broad coverage removes several purchases, profiles and arrival-day risks.
